It's a Small World After All/Hard Times on the H.H.A.

Hard times have hit the Happy-Half-Acre.  Mrs. Hotel works in real estate and her job, even after all of this recession business, is finally starting to go away.  I'm a man of modest means and as I've mentioned before, I work for a non-profit.  My salary is enough to cover the basics, but that is it.  We've both been on the look out for jobs and I may finally have one lined up.  I'm talking with the owners of a local transfer station to be a jack-of-all-trades on the weekends.  I know what you're thinking.  Poor Mike, he has to work at the dump.  Not at all.  I love dumps.  The stuff most people discard, I love.  I'm a junker.  If it all works out, I'll probably have to blog less, but I won't give it up all together. I was hoping that this blog would be a good second income, but alas, I make a whopping $5-10 a month off of it.  AdSense has a payout of $100.  I have yet to it that mark.

I've been doing contract work through the same transfer station since February through my current job.  I like the guys that work there and I think that they like me.  I hit it off with one of the employees immediately due to similarities in our lives.  He pulled a rabbit cage off of the trash a few weeks ago and held it for me.  It is a small, lighter cage that I can sit out in the grass and let the angora graze.  It is a rabbit tractor, if you will.  I was excited about the score and I have to say, Sunny the rabbit is excited about it as well.

I turn it upside down so he has access to the grass.  The wooden bottom provides Sunny bunny with shade.  Due to all of the wool, he overheats easily.

As I was turning the cage the other day, I saw a signature and a date on the bottom of the cage.

I almost fell over.  The name says "Lew Mumaw 2/4/1989".  Lew Mumaw owned my house before the people I purchased it from.  I still get junk mail for him.  If I had to guess, I would say that this rabbit cage, found at the dump, was built at my house.  CRAZY!

Pax Domini Sit Semper Vobiscum,

Mike, Oscar, Hotel......out.

  1. The world's a small place, Mike. I didn't use to realize that.

  2. It's a sign, you were destined to end up at the dump Mr. Hotel.

Best of luck to you, Mrs. Hotel, and the oompas though!
