The Spoils of War....or the Dump

Well, Blogger is still messed up.  It ditched all of the new updates that I had just finished and it axed a post that I made late last week about a sickly moose in Snuffy's yard.

Thanks, Blogger.  I might just leave you for wordpress.

Today in the News:

I'm looking for some guest posts.  I'd like to host a week of game pictures from our readers.  If you have cool (or just normal) photos of fish and wildlife in your area or of your travels, please send them along to me.  If you want to do a short write up with the pictures, that would be cool as well, but not required.  Please send submissions to thesharpenedaxe@hotmail.com .

For my part, I'm going to set up a game camera at the dump.  There are tracks everywhere.  It is a little eerie to arrive at the dump on a foggy Friday morning and see monstrous tracks all around the yard.  I'm hoping to catch a big one!

Even More Today in the News:

In anticipation of our 100th (yes, ONE HUNDRED) follower, there will be a (small) giveaway this week that relates to one of the upcoming articles here on the axe.  Stay tuned, again, the only requirement will be that you be a "follower".

The Spoils of War....or the Dump

I'm not writing this post to brag.  Let's get that out of the way.  I'm writing it to let you know how thankful I am that the people of America are so wasteful.  To the point of madness.  Seriously.  Every time I think to myself that I need or want something, it shows up on the dump pile and usually there's little to no issue with the item.  Here is a fraction of what I've collected off of the dump in the past few weeks.

 Chicken egg incubator.  Works fine.

Rabbit hutch.  I paid $200 for the one that I have.  This one came through and needs about an hour of handy work and that is strictly for looks.

Brand new (moldy) axe handle.  Still has the sticker on it.  Grain is fantastic.  Fawn's foot like I like.  Just have to put on a mask and sand off the mold.  I'll hit it with paint thinner first and (hopefully) kill all of the spores.

Live trap.  I'm going to have fun with this!

I had been wanting a weather vane for the top of the chicken coop, but certainly couldn't justify the cost.  Some that I was looking at were $75.00 or more.  For this one, I just helped a guy unload trash off of his truck.

Fence wire, still rolled up.  I just bought a roll of this to put around the chicken coop.  Brand new I paid $25.00.

Chicken feeder and water outfit.  I'll disinfect them both.

Not sure what this is.  At first I thought it was a heated water bowl.  Anyone else know?

...it says "This Side Up."  I thought it would have gone the other way.

....and a Fuji mountain bike.  Works fine.  And it has shocks!  We never had shocks on our bikes growing up!

Thank you, America, for being so wasteful  You have enriched my life and lightened the load on my wallet.  Make friends with your local dump guy.  It could be beneficial!

Pax Dominin Sit Semper Vobiscum,

Mike, Oscar, Hotel....out.
