bmatt, an American Bushcrafter in Finland
As my nickname indicates, I am an American, a 'bushcrafter' and I live in Finland. :) I've been into camping, hiking, fishing, bushcrafting and other outdoor activities since I was a cubscout. As a child, I had the great fortune of living on the doorstep of a large protected natural area, so I roamed freely there and felt at home in the woods. Now, as an adult, I get to roam very different woods here in Eastern Finland. Like other northern wildernesses, Finland has a lot to offer sportsmen and -women in every season, and it is here that I have gained a passion for bushcraft.
I enjoy testing my own limits to see what I can do and I learn something new every day of my life. I have had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and experiences that has never relented. It has caused me to live in different countries in the world, encouraged me to learn different languages, led me to explore history and religion, sweat in subtropical climates and freeze in the subarctic, enjoy exotic foods, music etc. On the other hand, my needs are relatively few on a day-to-day basis, and my favorite thing to do is simply to spend time with my wife and our young son (bushcraft is No. 2).
Thank you, MOH, for posting my articles here at The Sharpened Axe. I hope readers find them interesting/useful.
