So if you look at the sheath from the edge, you can see that it is three layers thick. The edge of the axe rests against this spacer piece and comes nowhere near the waxed thread. This has worked very well so far.

bmattAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3793387715625734345.post-90122431626464028862010-10-27T16:43:20.333-07:002010-10-27T16:43:20.333-07:00I think you're right. My issue is how do I make a sharp enough fold so it looks decent? Wet the leather? I might have to try it just to try it.Mike Oscar Hotelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08449689716082153671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3793387715625734345.post-72588018022183499592010-10-27T15:17:25.104-07:002010-10-27T15:17:25.104-07:00I believe you would be better off just folding the...I believe you would be better off just folding the piece of leather over so the edge is not up against the stitches. That way you wouldn't have as many stitches/holes to make. You could also add a welt between the edges or fold over a scrap of thick leather and put it in the sheath. If it gets cut just relace it. That way you won't have to re-stitch.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3793387715625734345.post-23585889400081532832010-10-27T07:41:26.471-07:002010-10-27T07:41:26.471-07:00Mine are pretty simple, too! Time will tell if I/we should have used rivets!

Keep the great posts coming!

bmattAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
